Group programs
The Bronx County Historical Society’s educational programs are designed to fill a need for supplemental social studies and arts instruction inside and outside the classroom. These programs engage participants in a series of workshops, tours, or other hands-on historical and creative activities, all rooted in the experiences and cultures of The Bronx. They can be tailored to meet the needs of public and independent K–12 schools, college classrooms, senior centers, Board Rooms, and more, with variable rates. Sample rates and packages are listed below for our various programs, but we can further customize any package to meet your specific needs. We can also develop new programs, based on your needs and our capacities.

Step into the final permanent residence of Edgar Allan Poe, poet, author, and master and innovator of detective, mystery, and horror genres. MUSEUM OF BRONX HISTORY PRIVATE GROUP TOUR
Experience a surviving vestige of New York history from the 1600–1700s. The national landmark Valentine-Varian House, which houses the Museum of Bronx History, was first owned by Anglo-Dutch blacksmith Isaac Valentine and was constructed in 1758 by enslaved Africans on land that once was home to the Delaware–Munsee–Lenape people. The House also stood during the American Revolution and thus serves as a testament to both the settler colonial and revolutionary eras of New York history. The Museum also houses various temporary exhibits on more contemporary eras of Bronx history. Street ARt/Street Peace: Anti-Gun Violence Street Art Seminar
Taught by pioneers of graffiti in The Bronx from the late 1960s and early 1970s, Street Art/Street Peace engages participants in an intensive seminar about the history of graffiti and early hip hop culture as well as the concrete techniques of street art—can control, tag design, lettering technique, mural design and creation, and more. The historical aspect of the seminar stresses the peaceful motivation at the core of early hip hop culture in The Bronx of the early 1970s, contextualizing graffiti and the other elements of hip hop as creative ways for teenagers of the time to overcome street violence and city disinvestment. The artistic instruction can range from a 1-hour crash-course in street art techniques up to multiple sessions of intensive instruction over weeks. The rates below include supplies, payment of instructor, and any other regular costs of the program.
